As people all over the world feel the pinch of a new energy crisis, many electric companies and private individuals are seeking out alternatives. Wind energy companies are making strong presence to be a provider of the new alternative energy.

Harvesting Wind Power

Wind energy companies specialize in harvesting the wind’s kinetic energy and transforming it into usable electric. This is completed generally through a process that uses wind turbines to capture the energy. These turbines look like large fans. The wind turns the turbine’s fans, which then turn a shaft. This shaft provides power to a generator that can be used to power homes directly or just feed the electrical grid. Wind power has not replaced other options by a long shot, but it is gaining in popularity and feasibility mostly thanks to the diligence in research and development of wind energy companies.

Different Technology Focus

Wind energy companies range rather greatly in their focus. Although their prime mission is to provide wind energy to people, who they go about it can differ. The large, commercial size companies generally geared toward helping electric companies add to their capacity through the use of wind power. They specialize in planning, consulting, developing, research and more. Their main focus lies in creating large-scale wind farms for the collection of kinetic energy. These companies sometimes manufacturer industrial-sized turbines, create computer programs to drive their operation and more.

Smaller wind energy companies are not only available to help the big guys. There are some that specialize in the creation of smaller wind turbines for individual home or property use. Here and again, wind energy companies in this classification also design, plan and consult. In addition, they might manufacture the materials needed to create viable wind energy collectors.

Research, Development And Public Education

Wind energy companies have managed to provide about 1% of the world’s electricity. Modern turbines are rather efficient devices, but there is always room for improvement. Inasmuch, wind energy companies also work to develop new technologies that make harvesting wind power even more efficient and effective.

One of the challenges that wind energy companies are facing is the education of the masses about the potential this energy source offers. Inasmuch, they are often very vocal advocates for education about wind power and its effectiveness. Some companies also tend to have a great deal of interest in educating the public.

Wind energy companies are found in locations all over the world. These firms work to bring wind power to the masses either through large-scale projects or one home at a time.

Solar energy stock is an interesting type of stock. As you consider investing in this type of stock, you should go about your investment research the same way you would any other type of stock. What are you looking for? You want to know what the current state of the company is and what the future holds. In the world of solar energy stock, there are various companies working to obtain goals and to develop the next big thing. Unfortunately, many of these companies are going in different directions, which can make it somewhat challenging to know which company is the best to work with.

The Dollar Sense Of Solar Energy

Solar energy stock and its future should be considered. Currently, solar energy is important to many communities, business owners and individual consumers. People are embracing this type of energy and using it for their needs. Yet, compared to other countries, such as Cyprus or Israel, the United States is significantly behind in the times when it comes to solar power. What is the reason for this? In most cases it comes down to money and how much money solar power takes over other forms of energy.

The Dollar Sense Of Solar Energy

Currently, it is less expensive to build new power plants using natural gas than it is to use solar energy. In addition, coal is still a relatively inexpensive form of fuel, making it affordable for companies to continue using instead of changing to other sources such as solar power. Yet, the problem with both of these fossil fuel methods is that the costs will continue to rise, especially as natural gas, coal and even oil become harder to find.

Future Of Solar Energy Stocks

When considering solar energy stock, you must consider this evidence that in the not so distant future, many of these solar companies will be producing larger and more intense solar powered plants to provide energy to people for virtually any need. Solar energy is also a clean burning fuel that does not harm any form of the environment. In a day and age of environmental friendliness, using solar energy can be an excellent choice. For this reason, solar energy stock is likely to continue to grow in popularity and demand.

In those situations, solar energy stock could be a good investment. Before investing in it, though, you should spend some time learning about the company, what it can provide to you as well as its future goals. Companies on their way up are using new solar technology to enhance solar products or solar energy, depending on what they produce. For some, solar energy stock is the route to take because of it’s potential.

Solar energy stocks are an opportunity for long term benefit. If you are looking at the stock market and wondering where you should put your money, chances are good you are looking at alternative fuel sources. Solar power is one of those alternatives. The price of oil, coal and natural gas continue to rise, making it hard to get involved in this area. More so, those stocks move quite a bit, on the whims of the market. Yet, solar energy stocks are often the wave of the future. Solar energy, like other types of alternative fuels, provides an option to look beyond natural resources, to a never ending source of power.

Risk Assessments On Solar Energy Stocks

Solar energy stocks should be taken into consideration like any other type of stock. There is no guarantee that these stocks will perform well. In fact, it is up to you to choose the stocks that are most specific to your goals, your risk tolerance and the types of companies that you are most interested in. Doing some research will help you to learn more about the companies that are offering these stocks. See those companies not just because they are solar power engineers, but because they are individual companies well built and managed for long term growth.

When considering solar energy stocks, realize that these stocks are not always going to be new companies. In the 1980’s, many solar companies took off, doing very well in a very short amount of time. During that time, the rise in gas prices and other natural fuels rose so high that many people looked towards other types of fuel. Then, in the middle of that decade, a large break happened where energy prices fell drastically. The companies that were once well established now were trying to hold their heads above water. That is not to say these companies have been wiped out.

Resiliency Of Solar Energy Stocks

In fact, solar energy stocks from companies that have been in the business for some time are often the best bets. Some of these companies are responsible for developing large-scale energy resources for whole communities. They offer the leading products and supplies for energy use. There are some 1.5 million homes and businesses in the country now using solar power, and that number continues to grow. The demand is still there and is likely to rise with the current energy crisis.

When considering solar energy stocks, be sure to take to your financial planner so you can choose a company that fits your portfolio and your goals financially. Still, many energy stocks will do well in the coming years as the demand for natural and environmentally friendly fuels increases in importance.

Coal is a low cost, secure and abundant long-term fuel source on the planet. There are billions tones of coal reserves in the world, capable of generating more energy than oil, natural gas and oil sands combined.

Clean Coal Technologies For Clean Electricity

Coal-fired power plants are used by all countries in the world as one of the main source of electricity. It is estimated that 40% of global electricity is generated by coal. In countries such as China, Australia, Poland and South Africa, coal provides more than 75% of electricity. However, along with producing energy, burning coal releases harmful emissions, making coal-fired power plants one of the biggest sources of carbon emissions.

Clean coal is an umbrella term used to promote the use of coal as an energy source with technologies developed to reduce environmental impact. There are several technologies available now to reduce the environmental impact of coal energy generation. These technologies apply to various stages in the coal power plants with the purpose of reducing the amount of carbon emissions. One technology involves the chemical washing of minerals and impurities from coal. Another technology is the treating of flue gases with steam to remove sulfur dioxide. Carbon capture and storage technologies are to capture the carbon dioxide from the flue gas.

Cleaning Coal For Clean Electricity

Coal cleaning uses air and water to clean coal that was originally too dirty to burn. There are also related technologies to clean coal from acid rain, mercury and smog-causing agents. Acid rain causes sulfur dioxide at the smoke stack, thus reduce the energy efficiency of coal.

Coal Gasification For Clean Electricity

The main technology for turning coal into electricity without dumping excessive carbon dioxide into atmosphere is to “cook” the coal into a fuel gas: Carbon is removed while remaining hydrogen is burnt in a turbine. This technology uses a combination of heat, steam and pressure to turn the coal into a gas.

Through this process, carbon dioxide is being separated. Only clean hydrogen is burnt to make electricity and carbon dioxide is not released into the air. This clean coal plant could cut carbon dioxide emissions by as much as 90 percent.

Opponents note that carbon capture and storage technology has yet to be used or proven on such a large scale and that it may not be successful. There are also concerns that pumping sequestered CO2 into oil and gas wells to help make the fuels easier to pump out of the ground will lead to further consumption of fossil fuels, and CO2 emissions, thus adding to global warming.

Carbon Capture And Storage

In coal gasification process, it is theoretically possible to inject carbon captured back into the ground right on site. However, there are great concerns about the projected high costs of the process; the human health dangers of large, rapid releases of carbon dioxide back into ground and the global warming risk posed by small levels leakage over long periods.

In the past few decades, significant gains have been made in controlling sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and mercury in the coal power plant. However, carbon dioxide remains a significant challenge for electrical utilities around the globe. Clean coal technologies are capable of bringing the resulting emissions of coal-fired electricity to near zero.

One of the important aspects of sustainable development is to reduce the amount of energy and non-renewable resources consumed in human activities. This would ensure people a choice of present living without contributing to future calamities, such as global warming and climate change

Sustainable Energy And Environmental Development

The impact of climate change is, ultimately, an environmental one. Environmentally sustainable development seeks to keep environmental depredation at bay or to actually improve the situation to historic levels that could be sustained with a concerted initial effort.

For environmental sustainability to fall back into a state of equilibrium, energy consumption must actually foster conditions that maintain the environment with no further damage. Only when the environment reaches a point from where recovery is possible is a level of environmental stability reached.

Sustainable Energy And Social Development

There is no way to get a populace to reliably practice sustainable energy habits without addressing the social concerns that govern ordinary lives in any community. Social customs are like habits that span generations and are considered normal if not “good.”

The forces that control a habit require a good understanding of culture and society before we can predict how motivating factors will be implemented. A coalition of powerful, concerned and influential people must come together to enact changes that make sustainability a guiding concern of developers everywhere.

Sustainable Energy And Economic Development

To lower the amount of greenhouse gasses produced in the course of nearly 9 billion people, production of tangible things and durable goods must decrease. These are very energy-dense items such as washing machines and water heaters. As they become less affordable with increases in the price of fuel, repair becomes a more viable option as do new technologies that use less metal and assembly.

A truly sustainable ecosystem would utilize all members of a society to their fullest potential while sustaining or repairing the damage done to the environment. Economies of scale must be abandoned for a technologically adept and connected network of local economies. True sustainability is the point at where all the forces that acts upon a society’s utilization of resources in a way that developed each of these components together into a whole that develops from the synergistic relationship of the component parts.

Given that oil companies are able to reap giant rewards for extracting a substance that they are not, generally, required to do anything about, performance of renewable energy stocks are likely to be on par, if not better, than the oil counterparts. Companies venturing into renewable energy are going to be the one reaping the reward of reversing climate change.

Logistics And Transport Industry To Renewable Energy Stocks

All sectors of transport are closely associated with the future of limited emissions that will have to emerge in the coming years. There simply is not yet a way to use carbon-neutral renewable resources for transport. The largest advancement that is already on the horizon is the introduction of vehicles that can be plugged in. Auto makers are leading the way with these new electric cars, due to be released in 2010.

Daily commute lengths are expected to fall for the first time since the mid 20th century. As soon as people begin spending same amount of money on their transport fuel bill as their rent or house payment, more people will choose telecommuting or working freelance to save the significant cost of fuel.

Capacity-Building And Renewable Energy Stocks

Creating the efficient infrastructure of the next century will take plenty of “conventional” petroleum and coal to get online. Some estimates made with early ’80s technology in mind don’t even expect that there is enough energy to meet growing demand from both the developing world and the creation of a renewable energy sector. The capacity-building industry is one that will propel the growth of renewable energy research.

Radioactive Waste And Renewable Energy Stocks

The only way to stop putting more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere is to stop burning things to go and stay warm. This means either the use of renewable technologies that convert photonic or motion into a usable current. The controlled “burning” of massive release of energy from a far more power “force” of physics.

It’s so powerful that it’s terribly dangerous. In the wrong hands, even idiots can make dangerous devices such as the “dirty bombs” that have become a concern in the ’90s. This is one high technology industry that will be needed for the wide deployment of renewable energy.

Movement of alternative energy fund relies on integrated decision-making at the international level. Driven by scientific data, it requires the input of business without twisting science and honest politics without fear and unpreparedness. The international framework requires the same public policy as other funding to ensure that good decisions are made for the future.

International Law For Alternative Energy Fund

The willingness of parties to extend a coherent system of international laws can either keep conflict at bay. That was the purpose behind the United Nations and the existing system of maritime and even space law. The rule of international law is supported by military forces that usually occupy until compliance is reached in armed conflicts. International law will surely be tested in times of resource shortage. The atmosphere, like the polar regions, are governed by an international coalition.

One example is the poles which are currently designated for scientific research. Some areas that are now being exposed for the first time may contain valuable oil and minerals. Enough so that Russia has already laid claim to formerly uncontested areas of the Arctic.

International Cooperation For Alternative Energy Fund

The Montreal and Kyoto agreements were watershed developments in the governments of the world even trying to agree to do something about climate change. Pollutants and a few toxic chemicals have been successfully phased out of use worldwide, as in the case of DDT and Freon gas.

International agreements to change the behaviors and consumption across entire world populations would take a great deal of time. Changes that will stave off climate change and other man-made causes of calamity in the 21st century will have to be dealt with immediately instead of waiting until the problems can no longer be denied. The drafting of international agreements must occur faster.

Institutional Arrangements For Alternative Energy Fund

The agreements that are made (sometimes informally) and non-bindingly made between non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and other prominent institutions can create the synergistic partnerships that result in good research, decision-making and demonstration projects.

Universities are good examples of this. For instance, many future NASA projects that could result in the first steps towards fusion power and advances in electromagnetic field strength have been the result of partnerships between the space agency and Universities all over North America.

Research into problems with space flight results in enough innovation that there’s an entire yearbook of discoveries put out by NASA that include better solar panels, insight into small-scale nuclear power and clues from other worlds as to how ours works and has worked in the past.

Perhaps more than any other category, the most important part of sustainable development will be preventing conflict over fresh water. Whether that means protecting existing supplies from being contaminated or making the most efficient use of fresh and waste water, sustainable development seeks to find fully renewable ways to run water desalination plants in much of the world.

Fresh Water As Eco-Renewable Resources

Fresh water has become a scarce commodity in many areas already hit by climate change. Areas that have counted on spring and summer rains have been hit by drought through what should be reliably wet years of a solar minimum.

Sustainable development seeks to encourage water conservation as well as delivering sustainably collected fresh and clean water to areas where the local water supply has already been impacted by drought or pollution. Even in areas where fresh water is plentiful, preventing agricultural or sewage contamination during storms is a major and growing concern.

Oceans And Seas In Relation To Eco-Renewable Resources

The state of the oceans is inextricably linked to the state of the planet as a whole. The state of the oceans and the potential impacts of the on-going catastrophic collapse of ocean ecosystems are reaching a pitch that we haven’t seen on any other environmental issue other than the build-up of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere.

As the polar ice caps continue to melt away into the oceans, a massive amount of heavier and very cold freshwater is being dumped into the ocean. This not only raises sea levels, but also can interfere with the currents that keep the ocean well-oxygenated and productive. The vast dead zones now spreading out from our coastlines appear to be largely the result of the vast rivers of chemicals, fertilizer runoff and sewage we’re pouring into the sea.

But most troubling of all is ocean acidification, the result of relying on the oceans to absorb the CO2 that we spew into the atmosphere. There is increasing evidence that the problem of ocean acidification is worsening rapidly, foreshadowing potential impacts that could be catastrophic for all life on Earth.

Industries that are related to renewable energy technology are creating many opportunities for both market players and job seekers.

Renewable Energy Industry In Agriculture

Perhaps one of the largest sectors in need of a sustainable revamping, organic agriculture has been at the forefront of sustainable development missions for many years. However, there is much more to sustainable agriculture. It seeks to meet human food and fiber needs while supporting human and natural ecosystems though practice and innovation.

Reducing nitrogen inputs that are mined or produced by the use of fossil fuels is a major part of sustainable farming. Water supplies are also maintained as carefully as possible to keep salts from building up in soils and being delivered most effectively to crop plant roots. While this includes many organic principles, some synthetic inputs and genetically modified crops are considered sustainable if they further the goals of reducing habitat loss and water usage while delivering competitive yields.

Each element in the sustainable agricultural system is weighed against the entire sustainable good and this analysis is done each year to account for all the variables. These systems can include anything from large diversified acreages or urban rooftop gardens.

Renewable Energy Industry In Biodiversity

Climate change and pollution are poised to further threaten biodiversity in the next century, with effects of this already being observed in frog and other amphibian populations. Several animals, such as bees, are part of a healthy eco-system that sustains human life as well as plant and animal life.

Escaped lab creations threaten plant populations with DNA that makes them less competitive in the wild. Plant breeders need an uncontaminated wild and heirloom populations of food crops from which to breed food strains that are suitable for cultivation in a changing climate.

Renewable Energy Industry In Biotechnology

Bio-tech also opens up many opportunities that are not so clear. What if chicken breasts could be grown in a lab? What if endangered animals that are ground up into ED cures were created in labs? Is it better to satisfy that need to save wild populations from over-exploitation or to create an even stronger demand for that commodity in the process?

The potential threat from bio-technology to the bio-diversity of regions of diversification worldwide has caused governments around the world to take technology slowly. Even countries that are receiving aid have elected not to accept GMO, as evidenced by African nations in the mid-90s.

Organizations assisting with sustainable development must consider what effect biotechnology will have on a given area before a solution tailored to North America is proffered elsewhere. By the same token, non-native plants and animals imported into North America can cause great damage that further threatens unique and local species.

Wind energy has been harvested in the form of mechanical energy for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Boats with sails have certainly taken advantage of the wind’s power for long enough to have facilitated human habitation of the pacific islands.

Large-Scale Renewable Energy Investment On Wind Power

The most commonly seen wind power turbines by far, are the large, high-capacity turbines. These are usually owned by the power company and very often put in large fields. They cast little shadow overall, and collect Megawatts of electricity per hour on a windy day. Large, open spaces such as grazing lands in

One method of transferring this power into storage is to use hydrogen lines. These are more efficient than copper wire, but more expensive to install. Hydrogen storage held at just below the point where tanks burst when they fail costs about 1/3 what other “pressure storage devices” do. When used in conjunction with a fuel cell device, it can serve as a backup supply of power from the generation site when the wind isn’t blowing.

Renewable Energy Investment On Distributed Wind Power

Installing personal wind power in the form of micro turbines can be hooked up to the grid, just like solar power, sending power to the local power company which we can then purchase back during peak hours if we need to.

Most distributed systems have some type of storage unit on site. These typically take the form of battery banks, though hydrogen gas and fuel cells are used by some. Many choose to hook the conditioned output from several such devices into the power company grid, running the meter backwards while the wind is blowing and taking power from the larger grid when it’s not.

Renewable Energy Investment On Wind Power Designs

The most commonly seen design seen with large turbines is a tall mast with three slow blades. These have already been built to generate as much as 1.5MW. Larger models can take advantage of some unusual shapes, such as the “eggbeater” type. Like a kite, each shape has a different advantage in a different sort of wind.
