Logistics And Transport Industry To Renewable Energy Stocks

All sectors of transport are closely associated with the future of limited emissions that will have to emerge in the coming years. There simply is not yet a way to use carbon-neutral renewable resources for transport. The largest advancement that is already on the horizon is the introduction of vehicles that can be plugged in. Auto makers are leading the way with these new electric cars, due to be released in 2010.

Daily commute lengths are expected to fall for the first time since the mid 20th century. As soon as people begin spending same amount of money on their transport fuel bill as their rent or house payment, more people will choose telecommuting or working freelance to save the significant cost of fuel.

Capacity-Building And Renewable Energy Stocks

Creating the efficient infrastructure of the next century will take plenty of “conventional” petroleum and coal to get online. Some estimates made with early ’80s technology in mind don’t even expect that there is enough energy to meet growing demand from both the developing world and the creation of a renewable energy sector. The capacity-building industry is one that will propel the growth of renewable energy research.

Radioactive Waste And Renewable Energy Stocks

The only way to stop putting more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere is to stop burning things to go and stay warm. This means either the use of renewable technologies that convert photonic or motion into a usable current. The controlled “burning” of massive release of energy from a far more power “force” of physics.

It’s so powerful that it’s terribly dangerous. In the wrong hands, even idiots can make dangerous devices such as the “dirty bombs” that have become a concern in the ’90s. This is one high technology industry that will be needed for the wide deployment of renewable energy.

Wind energy has been harvested in the form of mechanical energy for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Boats with sails have certainly taken advantage of the wind’s power for long enough to have facilitated human habitation of the pacific islands.

Large-Scale Renewable Energy Investment On Wind Power

The most commonly seen wind power turbines by far, are the large, high-capacity turbines. These are usually owned by the power company and very often put in large fields. They cast little shadow overall, and collect Megawatts of electricity per hour on a windy day. Large, open spaces such as grazing lands in

One method of transferring this power into storage is to use hydrogen lines. These are more efficient than copper wire, but more expensive to install. Hydrogen storage held at just below the point where tanks burst when they fail costs about 1/3 what other “pressure storage devices” do. When used in conjunction with a fuel cell device, it can serve as a backup supply of power from the generation site when the wind isn’t blowing.

Renewable Energy Investment On Distributed Wind Power

Installing personal wind power in the form of micro turbines can be hooked up to the grid, just like solar power, sending power to the local power company which we can then purchase back during peak hours if we need to.

Most distributed systems have some type of storage unit on site. These typically take the form of battery banks, though hydrogen gas and fuel cells are used by some. Many choose to hook the conditioned output from several such devices into the power company grid, running the meter backwards while the wind is blowing and taking power from the larger grid when it’s not.

Renewable Energy Investment On Wind Power Designs

The most commonly seen design seen with large turbines is a tall mast with three slow blades. These have already been built to generate as much as 1.5MW. Larger models can take advantage of some unusual shapes, such as the “eggbeater” type. Like a kite, each shape has a different advantage in a different sort of wind.

Reducing carbon emissions will mean at least some time, if not an indefinite future, where less energy is used until renewable resources is able to keep pace with a fully adjusted demand. The race to find new sources of energy will likely characterize the fastest growing fields.

Renewable Energy Finance On Energy Replacement

Research that can lead to the more complete use of uranium and other fissionable materials could vastly increase the energy fraction gained and decrease the danger posed by a far less toxic waste product. For example, mixed oxide, or MOX fuel, is a blend of oxides of plutonium and natural uranium serving as an alternative to low enriched uranium (LEU) fuel used in the light water reactors that predominate nuclear power generation. MOX reactors beyond research phase are already acting like uranium recyclers in the EU and elsewhere.

Bio-fuels are a viable replacement for petroleum auto fuels, but not even a fraction of the personal cars on the road could be run on bio-fuels at the rate they’re driven today. Personal transport would have to disappear for the country to remain well fed, even with a massive shift towards vegetarian diets.

Renewable Energy Finance On Crisis Management

As the cost of goods increases without cheap energy, people are more likely to default on loans such as their mortgages. Finance management will therefore have to cover the exploration of other non-renewable resources that don’t emit carbon dioxide directly (though indirectly with their extraction and transport).

The state of currencies and economic health has an impact on the world of finance. By the same token, natural disasters, especially those that threaten the flow of raw materials or energy, cause losses in stock markets. When liquid assets are used to make repairs after storm damage or to fill in the gaps during an off quarter brought about by climate change, money that could have been used to invest in business is lost.

The patterns of energy usage that characterize the modern lifestyle is largely dictated by the buildings we choose to inhabit and where we put them. Energy management of buildings with climate change and reducing carbon emissions in mind will have a profound impact on how climate change is met.

Energy Profile Of Common Building Materials

One of the largest sources of energy input into building materials is the cost of finding, mining, processing and transporting mineral items such as drywall. All the wood used to make a frame is also costly to transport and has a negative impact on the ability of the Earth to soak up all that excess carbon.

Building Placement And Energy Management

Architecture is ripe to begin considering fuel efficiency when designing buildings for public and private use. Certification standards favorably rates building placement that allows natural airflow and solar accumulation to provide heating and cooling for the occupants. Whether buildings set into southerly exposed hillsides, which is very energy efficient in cold climates, will fare well with increased climate chaos depends on how well vegetation is maintained to keep erosion at a minimum.

Energy Management With Alternative Materials

While some areas do absolutely require building to follow the conventional “western” wooden frame design. There are other ways to build houses that are actually more stable and entirely made from toxin-free alternative materials.

Earthships, straw bale houses, adobe brick, tire-tamped earth, Oregon cob and even bamboo are popular alternative building materials. These are all made from dirt itself or harvested crops and are very stable and efficient over time when correctly designed. Generally contractors won’t bother with such materials, so if you want to design and make such a home or business, you may need to plan on doing it yourself. Spend some time practicing telling the bank how you want a loan for a mud hut, too.

Scorn and ridicule from the construction trades aside, the use of alternative materials will likely become of greater interest as rapidly rising fuel costs make construction too expensive for many to afford. Recession-proof materials will be in high demand.

One of the most frustrating and potentially dangerous aspects of climate change is the way in which one failing component of the Earth’s ecosystems can lead to an acceleration of the warming process. This process is known as carbon cycle.

Carbon Cycles Caused By Beetles

One carbon cycle is found in British Columbia where there is an outbreak of mountain pine beetles due to warmer climate. These beetles not only destroy the forest but also release carbon into the atmosphere. When trees are killed, they no longer are able to take carbon from the atmosphere. When dead trees start to decompose, carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere.

The outbreak has affected about 33 million acres of lodgepole pines. Bark beetles also have killed huge swaths of pines in the western United States, including about 2,300 square miles (6,000 square kilometers) of trees in Colorado. This could exacerbate the global warming that contributed to the outbreaks in the first place.

Carbon Cycle Turn Carbon Sink Into Carbon Source

Carbon cycle is a vicious cycle created by a warming planet. Carbon cycle turns “carbon sinks” which absorb carbon dioxide than they emit into “carbon source”. This causes planet to be even warmer, thus allowing more creatures such as beetles to survive farther north and at higher elevations. The long-term effect, with computer modeling, estimated that the maximum annual release of 20 megatons of carbon, as compared to the 30 megatons of carbon produced by forest fires.

Carbon Cycle From Ice Melt

Another example is in the very northern parts of Scandinavia and Siberian Russia. In areas that had been built upon permafrost, foundations are sinking and collapsing as this long solid ground is now becoming a muddy swamp. Thousands of years of accumulated peats are being digested by decomposition bacteria. This process emits a massive “belch” of carbon dioxide that had been previously sequestered.

Previous Arctic ice melt data modeling are no longer applicable as the change is now accelerating even faster than the most recent models would suggest. More importantly, as polar ice caps melt, the reflectivity of the Earth (or albedo to meteorologists) decreases, allowing sun’s rays to be even more effective.

Developed nations are giving a great deal of direct and indirect aid to foreign nations, much of which is in the form of sustainable development initiatives.

Foreign Aids For Better Living

The concepts of sustainable development have been brought to some of the poorest places on earth, thanks to the generosity of wealthier nations. This invaluable source of funding has improved the lives of people throughout the world when human suffering would otherwise foment conflict.

Not all foreign aids are effective, with some efforts going down the drain as resources and wealth that could be shared more equally are benefiting much less people due to fragile political backdrop or irresponsible government practices. Nonetheless, over a long term and with better aids auditing, nations are better equipped to handle their resource rich future for sustainable growth.

Long Term Sustainable Growth

Successful long-term development is a complex process that depends on many factors. In most cases, two qualities seem particularly important: the quality of governance in a country will heavily influence its development; and adopting economic policies that promote growth will contribute significantly to development.

Without these qualities, foreign aid is much less effective in determining whether a country will achieve long-term sustainable growth and development. Foreign aid is likely to be the most helpful when it is given to countries that maintain stable, honest governments and have adopted market-oriented, outward-looking economic policies. For this reason, many foreign aids donors are now making it mandatory for countries to adopt positive political and economic policies. Countries that are unlikely or unwilling to make necessary political and economic reforms will face greater difficulties to obtain aids.

Most people would agree that something must be done about climate change. However, getting some of the biggest polluters on Earth to do something about it has been the challenge so far.

More Need To Be Done By The Governments

It is hard to know how to judge whether this is about to change or not. However, increasing international and domestic social pressure can certainly have an impact. Governments are beginning to understand that it is important to get responsible scientific advisors to help them craft useful and efficient environmental policies that will be acceptable to a voting populace.

As an example, in United States, election candidates are now touting themselves as the “green” candidate. Many are showing records to prove that they are able to gain industry support of their program on sustainable development and other matters of ecological importance. Election promises are made on government spendings to invest in quality research to train a generation of qualified advisors.

Local And International Efforts On Sustainable Development

To combat climate change, understanding of the subject and their impact on lives at stake is important. Since these issues are all related as part of sustainable development, some nations are building support for domestic sustainable development, making it more likely now for more international agreements to be established on all issues related to climate change. The international agreements on limiting carbon dioxide emissions are quick in coming.

Fresh water supplies are sure to be strained in coming years. This is due, at least in part, to climate change as well as the sharp increase in urban populations.

Water Conservations For Sustainable Development

In arid countries availability of water has always been the main constrain in their growth. Whereas in other countries, massive projects that deliver water to millions have actually created more water problems as the populations take water for granted and use more water than was sustainable.

In developing cities where populations are increasing, supply of water is as important as the quality of water. Sustainable development seeks to conserve water in both the design of buildings and the behavior of the people within them. People have to be educated to conserve water for the interest of themselves, their nation and the whole world. For instance, everyone should cultivate the habit of collecting water instead of using fresh water to irrigate their garden. As for building design, low-flow fixtures in bathroom should be the priority consideration.

Water Audit

In business or in household, water audit should be seriously considered. Simple water audit can be done by anyone. Whereas in the case of sizable business operations, a professional water audit could be engaged. Usually the recommendations resulting in water audit can save a great deal of water and money by implementing what usually amounts to simple changes in procedure. For example, it may be simply installing cisterns for water storage. For businesses that absolutely rely upon water, a good investment on water distillery or nursery should also be considered.
